Discuss ideas to recruit new members in the fall.

Cindy Suggested a Salsa Testing Party like the teachers had for all of the students last year. Ellen said she would check and see if the teachers are doing this again this fall, and if it would be do-able

Randy Bittner suggested putting posters up all over campus, like the Ag Tech building, etc

Cody suggested setting a table at the Jack Science Center.

It was also suggested that we should take more pic’s of activities, and make posters for the Electronics Dept

We will be having a grill out for the students and will provide more details later.

Discussed the Grill Out being held in conjunction with our next Meeting @ Noon in the Boiler Room  April 28th, and the beginning of the Toilet Bowl Preparation.

Rock the Lawn Volunteers

Volunteers are needed in case it rains. Most everyone at the meeting said they would help, if they were there, and it rained. Date is May 7th.

Toilet Bowl Races

Carl had the Rules and Reg’s. Got members signed up and releases signed. Toilets are available this Friday. He has great plans for what to do and how to do it. He’s going to be the head of that.

Thanks Carl!

Dennis Larson Charity

The article was read from the Tribune, and who he was was explained to us. All were in favor of Donating 100 lbs of pancake mix to the event. No one knew him or Carissa, except those from Ellen’s class, but if we have the funds available, unanimously everyone thought it was for a good cause, to help defray the medical expenses of his daughters surgeries. Cindy will coordinate between the advisors and Carissa to get this done.

March of Dimes

In total Ellen was able to donate $57.00 to the March of Dimes. The Energy Club received a Thank- you for the donation.

Dodge ball

There was discussion about when to have this, which led to discussion about scraping the idea.

Carl said when the Intramural Dodgeball Tournaments are over, it would be good to do it about 2 days after that. He is going to find out when that is and get back to us. We will need Volunteers to help with that, signage, etc. more later.

New Business

Holly informed us about a BOG Club challenge, to be held April 26th, Called Clean up Day. Club decided to do it from 1-3, and a sign up sheet was passed around.

Leigh Kasperi suggested for Recruiting purposes and Publicity that we should have someone take pic’s of events and put a scrap book/photo album together. To elect some to be in a position as a parliamentarian, or something to that effect. Great Idea, Leigh!

Minutes for March 24th Meeting

Remember to be eligible, you must be in good standing with BSC and have participated in one service event,  that the Energy Club has helped with.

There will be free admission to the Zoo that day, for those who are participating. Everyone is encouraged to come. This should be a fun event.

March of Dimes

The March of Dimes is in need of sponsorship for the March of Dimes Walk. The EC decided to donate $50.00. Ellen made a motion to proceed with this, and Maynard seconded it. There was a vote and the majority agreed to this.

Old Business

There was a concern whether to have our Dodgeball Tournament during Rock the Lawn. Since there are so many other events going on, Raylynn from the BOG thought maybe it would be better to have it another time. At this point we are waiting for the weather to warm up, for further planning of this.

Rock the Lawn

This is coming up May 7th, with this we have our annual Toilet Bowl race. Last year our team took 2nd place. Our Old Toilet has been disposed of, and this year we get to start fresh with a new toilet bowl!!

In case of Rain, volunteers may be needed to move the festivities inside.

Energy Club Meeting Minutes from 02-09-10

The Energy Club Meeting was called to order, chaired by Kyren Miller at 11:40 am.

Agenda

1.      Dues. Members were reminded that the membership dues were due today.

This includes a T-shirt for members who do not currently have one.

2.      EGC Review. The Energy Club members were thanked for their help, and in donating their time. The coat check made about $400.00, an the EGC committee usually makes a donation as well. We haven’t received that yet.

3.      Jackets (med and Large) are still available to anyone who wants them. There was a new order taken for Beanies, or hoodies. A sign up sheet was passed around for those who wanted to sign up for one. The Energy Club pays for half of the cost of them.

4.      Day Trip. This is planned for approx the 3rd week in April. This will be for members in good standing with the club. (dues paid, and must have helped with one service event) This will be to Cargill and to Cavendish Farms.

5.      Blood Drive. Thanks to those of you who helped with the last Blood Drive, and there will be another one coming up March 31st. As we get closer to that time, we will be asking for volunteers again, to help with that event.

6.      New Member recruitment. The Energy Club is open to anyone who wants to join. The club members are encouraged to think of ways to help recruit new members.  It was suggested that food helps bring people in.

7.      Rock the Lawn is scheduled for sometime in the end of April/May. This event is a free 2 day festivity with Bands playing, ceramics, and tie dying, amongst many other activities.  The BOG has asked if the EC would help with this. It was suggested that this may be a good time for the Charity Dodgeball Tournament. Holly will take this to the BOG and ask if this would be OK, but not to conflict with Rock the Lawn. She will report back.

8.      BOG Holly reported that on 02-24-10 there will be a Quad Campus Jeans Day. This includes Rasmussen College, U of Mary, BSC and United Tribes. Anyone who wears jeans, and would like to donate $1.00, may do so. The proceeds will go to help the victims in Haiti. Donations are to be made in the Student Union, that day.

9.      St. Baldric’s Day. To be held on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th. The proceeds of this go to Children’s cancer research. It is a challenge from Basin Electric, and going to be held there. It involves getting pledges and shaving your head. The BOG need volunteers to shave, and anyone interested can talk to Holly. The EC can also donate as a group to this event. This is a good way to promote fundraising through the EC.  Maynard is our new Optimist club coordinator, and this is an Optimist type event. Billy will think about getting his head shaved, and will let Holly know by Friday. Anyone else who needs a Spring Cut, hey, it’s free and for a good cause.

10.  Welcome aboard to our new officers, Treasurer Josh Gunter, and Optimist Event Coordinator Manard Jungling.

Once again you all did a great job of raising money and helping young kids out in the Bismarck-Mandan area.  Your toys made all these kids smile!  The West River Head Start Program serves 76 kids in the area that are from a low income family.
